John Deere skid steer codes are designed to stay on the engagement and monitor unit until they are manually cleared. Luckily, the steps to complete this task are easy. This walkthrough is specific to the John Deere 320E. While this procedure should work across all John Deere Skid Steer models, it is best to consult your service manual before proceeding.
How to Clear the Codes on a John Deere Skid Steer
- Press “MENU” on the monitor for 5 seconds until “CODES” appears on the display.
- Press “SELECT” to view the machine and engine diagnostic codes.
- Write down any codes that appear in the system for your records.
- Press “SELECT” to scroll through the codes until “END” appears on the display.
- Press “SELECT” again, “WAIT” will be displayed on the screen.
- Hold “SELECT” for 5 seconds to clear all John Deere diagnostic codes from the system. When cleared, “END” will appear on the display.
What to Do If the Diagnostic Trouble Codes Reappear
The engagement and monitor unit is designed to regenerate the codes if the original problem persists. If that happens after you’ve successfully cleared the diagnostic codes, it’s likely that the repair you completed was either done incorrectly or was done properly but didn’t address the actual issue. Some diagnostic codes indicate a clear-cut problem, while others require some additional troubleshooting.
